Aspatria school welcomes new headteacher
Last updated at 20:33, Thursday, 17 May 2012
Richmond Hill Primary School in Aspatria has a new, permanent headteacher.
Helen Ford, 44, follows a succession of temporary heads since Barry Dickinson left in July 2009.
Mrs Ford, who is from Cockermouth, has moved to Richmond Hill from Northside Primary School in Workington. She previously worked at Broughton Primary School.
Mrs Ford said she was keen to strengthen links between the school and community and to widen the children’s horizons.
She has already forged links with local rugby clubs, and pupils have been sent out on to a local estate to do landscaping.
Mrs Ford, who is married with two children, was a member of the Cockermouth women’s rugby team before injury stopped her playing. She also sings with Seaton choir.
She said she was looking forward to working with the Maryport Schools’ Partnership and had been made to feel welcome by pupils, staff and a supportive community.
