Bullies, bulimia and Barbie - Cumbria girl Deryn Green's story

Weblore has it that if Barbie were a real woman, she wouldn’t have enough body fat to menstruate. For Deryn Green, Cumbria’s very own Barbie girl, fat has become a four-letter word and a destructive fixation.

Have your say

omg your story is soo sad but dont let people put your down your stunning and a true beauty inside as well as out you are an inspiring person dont let people put you down and to many people judge a book by a cover ur a really pretyy girl :) xx

I am her sister caroline
I think none of us can judge she was bullied it takes all different people to cope in there own ways deryn needs a pat on the back she has tried succeeded to tackle her problems and came out of it alot better of then the prople who were bullying her at school where are they now ha ha
never judge a book by its cover she is lovely

Her mum wasnt tough enough with her as a kid. My mum would never let me do that to myself! the boob job! and the hair! and the orange tan! Never mind a 'glamour model' job! Im sorry she suffers, as many do. I hope her therapy goes well and she learns to love herself and gets a job where she can use talent, brains not looks. maybe even help others learn to love themselves. all the best to her.

Thats absurd, seriously, if my ten year old went out dressed like this I'd expect her to get picked on and at 26/27 I'd expect her to get locked up, if you can't get the adoration you strive from just being you, give it up and stop acting like a two year old, who wants to be known as the topless barbie doll when they are mothers and grandmas? I think your best being that "quiet pretty girl" for the right reasons and bullied? really? I don't know anyone who's been to hell and back with bullies that would have the confidence to wear what she does let alone inspiring more of the same by doing what she does, blame the parents I wouldn't let my daughter out of the house never mind frame her topless photos and have them in the living room. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind and look out for your kids and tell them right from wrong and not have Tricia doing it infront of the nation.

this girl wasn't even bullied! not to the extreme she makes out, anyway. i find it dreadful that she can use issues like bullying to try to get the "public" to feel sorry for her to further her career, which i'm sorry love but your 25/26 it aint happened yet so it aint gonna EVER happen

Thats so sad but if it was my daughter I'd take her barbies off her, I've seen them on TV and theres more dolls than a toy shop in their house, if it had that affect I'd burn the lot and make her get a proper job and all that nonsense out of her head before her bones start crumbling and her intestines start packing in because nothings going through them. I hope young girls don't look up to her. We've all been bullied, some girls have been to hell and back but not many go to that extreme.

"fat has become a four-letter word and a destructive fixation."

Think that should have read three letter word?!
