Natasha Wilson shone at the English Schools national championships last weekend at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
Fourteen-year-old Natasha, who is coached by Mike Doran, competed in the junior girls u15 javelin and clinched the national title with a massive throw of 40.57m.
No other junior girl has thrown this distance in the UK this season.
Natasha beat 15 other girls with Natalie Whisken from Dorset coming second with a throw of 38.65.
This season Natasha, Carlisle Aspatria Athletics Club, has broken county, school county and inter county records and she is now getting ready for the Scottish Championships in August, which she holds the record for.
And she hopes to bring the gold medal back to Cumbria when she competes in the England AAA Championships in Bedford late in August.
The Cumbria Under-15 girls county team also won their place overall in the championships in Birmingham.
The team consisted of Natasha Wilson (gold medal in javelin), Abbie Hetherington (silver medal in 1500m), Emily Cummings (fourth in high jump) and Chloe Moore (11th in javelin). Natasha attends Nelson Thomlinson in Wigton. Fellow Cumbrian Nick Miller came second in the senior boys’ hammer while Katy Barnard was third in the intermediate girls’ hammer.
