Defunct clubs stage charity game
Last updated at 00:00, Friday, 21 December 2007
PAST players from Derwent Park Rangers and Westfield Wildcats have been lined up to play in a charity rugby league match.
Both of the Workington-based sides are no longer active, but players reunited for a game last Christmas and raised over £500 for charity.
Former Westfield secretary Barry Williamson said last year’s fund-raiser was so successful, they have decided to make it an annual event.
This year’s game takes place at Workington Zebras tomorrow (2pm kick-off).
Any former players of the sides who would like a run out and to catch up with old teammates can contact Barry on 01900 63555.
Barry is also appealing to local rugby league fans to come along and support the game.
