Distington came out on top in a hard-fought game at home to Seaton in the Iggesund Cumberland League’s group A.
Scott George opened up the scoring on six minutes, after a neat pass from Tyrone Dalton, going over to the right of the posts to register the first of Distington’s five tries, with Stephen Clark converting.
Seaton hit back on 10 minutes after Distington coughed up possession and Stephen Hodgson picked up the ball to score under the posts, Miguel Blanco-Charters converting.
Shortly after, Distington’s Tyrone Dalton bagged the first of his three tries after he dummied the defence 25 yards out to go over, with Clark converting.
Scott George dropped a goal on 32 minutes to make the score 13-6, then a delightful chip from George found Tyrone Dalton racing under the posts for his second, with Clark converting to leave the half time score at 19-6 to the hosts.
Distington were on the scoresheet just after the break when a penalty tap was taken quickly by hooker Troy Armstrong.
He burst through the Seaton defence and found Dalton on his shoulder to go under the posts for his hat-trick, Clark again on target with the extras.
Sutton scored next for the home side, after running a great line to go over with the conversion missed.
The game remained scoreless until the 73rd minute when Seaton capitalised on a Distington fumble on their own try line, Ryan Blair picking up and going over. Adam Coulsen converted to leave the score 29-12 to Distington at the final whistle.
In group B, Salterbeck Storm could not raise a team to host Maryport but there were wins for both Broughton Red Rose and Flimby. Broughton were convincing 34-4 victors over Ellenborough, thanks to a hat-trick of tries from Wayne Bell. He was aided by a brace from Paul Osborne, with Richard Campbell and Eddie Robinson also touching down. Dan Rayson added two goals.
Ellenborough replied with a lone try for Brett Wilson.
In the other game, Hensingham were in charge of their clash with Flimby, winning 8-0 at the break but the village side struck back in the second half to win 26-8 by the final whistle.
Dave Torley, Scott Hodgson, Danny Fiddler and Gary Steele all crossed for tries for Flimby, with Graham Thompson tagging on five goals.
For Hensingham, Mike Lithgow touched down and Josh Hiller added two goals.
In group C, the Frizington v Kells A game was off due to a waterlogged pitch but victories were on the cards for both Egremont and Aspatria.
Egremont had to fight for their 30-26 victory over Lowca, with the village outfit leading 16-8 at half time.
Kieron Glenn and Anthony Leak both ran in braces for Egremont to push them back ahead at the close.
Ryan Barnes and Mark Cottam followed them over the whitewash and three Matthew Bewsher goals sealed the win.
Lowca saw a brace for player/coach Lee Allen and one apiece for Luke Penrice and Liam Campbell. Keith Campbell added three goals and Tinkler one.
Aspatria were more convincing when they hosted Gt Clifton Lions and ran out 44-16 victors.

Bryan Park crossed for a double for Clifton with Mike Hill adding two goals.
