More talks about plans to close Aspatria care home

Another round of talks will take place next month about plans to close a care home in Aspatria.
Several meetings have already taken place over Cumbria County Council’s proposals to shut Park Lodge as part of an overhaul of social care services that could see more people cared for in their own homes.
Now a series of drop-in sessions will be held so people can discuss the plans in detail with council officials.
They will include meetings at Wigton Library between 11am and 2pm on January 19, Aspatria Local Link on January 31 from 3pm until 6pm, and Silloth Library between 2pm and 4pm on February 2.
As part of the modernisation plan Cumbria Care’s home at Inglewood in Wigton will be upgraded to support people with dementia.
Two other homes – Woodlands at Distington and Richmond Park, Workington – are also earmarked for closure. Consultation continues until February 15 with a decision expected in the spring.
Meanwhile, campaigners fighting the Park Lodge proposal will present a petition to the county council next week.
Iris Stobbart and Phill Roberts of campaign group Park Lodge – The Future will attend a meeting of the county council’s cabinet on Thursday to present the petition, which they say already includes thousands of signatures.
