What price bank success?
Last updated at 12:03, Thursday, 10 March 2011
Just a small thought. The Royal Bank of Scotland, which was bailed out by our money, has handed chief executive Stephen Hester a £7.7 million pay package for his fantastic work last year.
The bank managed to lose more than £1 billion but didn’t he do well?
Mr Hester and eight of his top team are sharing a bonus and shares windfall totalling £28m for 2010.
He gets a £1.2m base salary, plus a £2m bonus in shares and the chance to get a further £4.45m under a long-term incentive scheme.
How much would he get if he ran a successful bank?
