Golden girl Natasha Wilson is on top of the world again after winning her third major competition of the year.
The 16-year-old javelin star threw 44.99m to win the Aviva Schools Internationals in Ashford, Kent.
Competing for England, she defeated her nearest rival, Tasia Stevens, from Wales, by nearly five metres to win the championship.
Her latest success came after she won gold at the Aviva English Schools Track and Field Championships in Gateshead for the third successive year and then topping the podium at the North of England Athletics Championships in Hull.
Now the Carlisle-Aspatria AC star, from Wigton, has her sights set on winning next month’s English Championships in Bedford and the Scottish Championships in Grangemouth.
Wilson, who attends Wigton’s Nelson Thomlinson School, said: “I’m really pleased with how it has gone so far as it has been my best year ever.
“I just hope I can keep it going now as there is still plenty to aim for.
“I went to Kent thinking I could win but there was always the possibility somebody else could pull something out of the bag or that it wouldn’t go well for me.”
Wilson, who is ranked No1 in her age group in the UK, followed in some illustrious footsteps by claiming gold at the English Schools – London 2012-bound Jessica Ennis, Jack Green and Andy Turner all started their careers at Aviva Athletics Academy schemes.
Abbie Hetherington, from Wigton, who won gold in the under-17 800m and 1,500m at the North of England Athletics Championships, won a silver medal at the Aviva Schools Internationals.
